A special church conference voted by around a 2:1 margin June 18, 2013 to demolish the church parsonage rather than spend nearly $100,000 to repair many problems including mold, leaks, air conditioning and other issues. Some members asked for more time to study the issue. WATCH THE VIDEO OF THE PRESENTATION.
The Board of Trustees said the demolition will cost about $10,000 and there may be some savings if salvage companies can reclaim some items from the nearly 4,000 square foot home. The demolition will NOT include the newly constructed garage and study.
In addition to discussing the parsonage, the Board of Trustee proposed exploring the sale of the open block of land that the church owns across from the parsonage. The Trustees estimated the block of land, might be worth $700,000 or more and that the proceeds would have to be used directly for paying down the church debt, which stands just above one million dollars.
By a narrow margin, the members who were present voted to TABLE the idea of selling the vacant lot for now. The Trustees were asked to get more answers about how the lot might be used if it was sold.
